2017 Winners

Major Award Winners:

 
Top Scorer: Breton Penney (Dartmouth Bandits)
 
Breton lead all scorers by a wide margin with 52 goals and 40 assists on his way to a 92 point season. Breton will compete in this year’s ECJLL Finals beginning tonight at Shearwater Arena.
 
Offensive MVP: Breton Penney (Dartmouth Bandits)
 
This is Breton’s first Offensive MVP award.
 
Defensive MVP: Chris Duplisea (Sackville Sportwheels Wolves)
 
After spending time in the OLA a season ago, Chris provided a major spark on the defensive side of the ball for the Wolves. Utilizing his multi-sport intangibles from football, Chris shutdown his opponents. He was also fourth in team scoring with 31 points (10 G 21 A) in 15 games played.
 
Top Goalie: Matt Kent (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
After being drafted first overall in the ECJLL Entry Draft a few years ago, Matt has lived up to expectations and been a brick wall for the Hurricanes again in 2017. A ECJLL Second Team All-Star a year ago, Kent will play for the Hurricanes in the Finals.
 
Rookie of the Year: Liam McGrath (Mi'kmaq Warriors/Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
After being granted exceptional status to play for the Mi’kmaq Warriors, McGrath was subsequently traded to the Hurricanes in a bid to push for the Garnet Knight Cup. McGrath was second in rookie scoring.
 
Coach of the Year: Jamie Dunbar (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
Dunbar took over the reins of a Southwest team needing leadership after a year in which they failed to make the ECJLL finals and defend their Garnet Knight Cup in 2015. The team finished with a 12-2-1 record and is undefeated heading into the ECJLL Finals.

Lead all scorers by a wide margin with 52 goals and 40 assists for 92 points.
 
Offence: Mitch Broussard (Sackville Sportwheels Wolves)
 
Lead team and was fifth in league scoring with 32 goals and 32 assists (63 points)
 
Offence: Jake Mosher-McGraw (NB Mavericks)
 
Third in team scoring with 33 goals and 15 assists (48 points) in seven games played.
 
Defence: Chris Duplisea (Sackville Sportwheels Wolves)
 
Stout defensively earning Defensive Player of the Year Award for 2017.
 
Defence: Chris Mallette (Dartmouth Bandits)
 
A strong defensive force and in transition for the Bandits, Mallette also had 3 goals and 14 assists.
 
Goaltender: Matt Kent (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
2nd team All-Star a year ago, now takes home Goalie of the Year award.
 

2nd Team All-Stars

 
Offence: Max McBride (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
Fourth in league scoring with 31 goals and 37 assists (68 points) in 2017.
 
Offence: Luke Smeltzer (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
Second Team All-Star a year ago, Luke had 18 goals and 25 assists (43 points) in 2017.
 
Defence: Nic Thompson (NB Mavericks)
 
Bruising 5th year defender played four years for the Mavs.
 
Defence: Chris Burgess (Mi’kmaq Warriors)
 
Second Warrior to be honoured (McGrath), Burgess as a leader on a young Warriors team.
 
Defence: Liam MacDonald (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
Paired with Geoff Zed to form a solid 1-2 for the Canes.
 
Defence: Geoff Zed (Halifax Southwest Hurricanes)
 
Part of a unit that held opponents to a league low 79 regular season goals.
 
Goaltender: Keegan Delaney (NB Mavericks)
 
Keegan Played in 12 games for the Mavs, providing a boost to the defensive unit.
