ECJLL (M)

Formed in 2004, the league featured five original teams (Dartmouth Bandits, Halifax Northwest Rebels, Halifax Southwest Hurricanes, Moncton Mavericks, Sackville Wolves). 

A second-tier league was added in 2012 with Eastern Shore Breakers, St. Margarets Bay Storm and Truro Bearcats competing against "B" teams from Halifax Northwest, Moncton and Sackville. This lasted just two years as St. Margarets folded after one season and Sackville "B" failed to finish their 2013 season.

Just four teams competed in 2014 with Moncton Mavericks going on hiatus for the season. Halifax Northwest re-branded as Northwest Marley Lions.

The Mavericks returned in 2015 along with a new team, the Truro-based Mi'kmaq Warriors, increasing the league to six teams.

For the 2016 season the Mavericks changed their name from Moncton to New Brunswick Mavericks.

The 2018 season saw the Halifax Northwest Marley Lions withdraw from play and a disbursal draft spread their players throughout the remaining teams on a one-year release. The ECJLL operated as a five team league for the duration of the season.

Prior to the 2019 season, Halifax Northwest moved its franchise to St. Margaret's Bay and re-branded once again as the Rebels. Previously disbursed players were re-called and the St. Margaret's Bay Rebels made their debut at the start of 2019, restoring the league to six teams.

The 2020 season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the NB Mavericks folded.

The league completed a shortened 2021 season with 5 teams, as the New Brunswick Mavericks were unable to compete due to Covid-19 restrictions. The Dartmouth Bandits won their 5th consecutive Garnet Knight Cup (and 7th title overall), becoming the winningest franchise in ECJLL history. 

For the 2022 Season the league added a new franchise in New Brunswick, the Saint John Rapids. For the first time in 3 years the league was able to complete a regular 15 game/team schedule. The Halifax Hurricanes went undefeated (14-0-1) through the regular season. In the playoffs the Sackville Wolves knocked off the 5-time defending champion Dartmouth Bandits in a 3-game sweep and the Halifax Hurricanes rolled over the leagues newest franchise, the Saint John Rapids, in 3 games.  In the finals the Wolves were able to hand the Hurricanes their first loss of the season, but the Hurricanes defeated the Wolves 3 games to 1 for their 7th championship.

ECJLL (F)

The league announced the creation of a female division, ECJLL (F) in January of 2022, and in February they announced the initial 4 franchises (Eastern Shore Breakers, Halifax Hurricanes, Sackville Wolves, and Saint John Rapids).

In the unaugural season of the Female Division the teams played a 12-game schedule between May & June 2022. The Halifax Hurricanes and Sackville Wolves tied in the standings with identical 10-2 records, but Halifax was awarded 1st place by virtue of the tie-breaking formula.  The Sackville Wolves defeated the Eastern Shore Breakers 2-0 in a best-of-3 semi-finals and went on to face the Halifax Hurricanes in the finals. Halifax did not allow a goal against in their two shutout wins to take the first-ever ECJLL Female Division Championship and the East Coast Cup!
