2012-05-02Hurricanes set for lacrosse season opener The Halifax Southwest Hurricanes will travel to Moncton on Saturday for the season opener in the East Coast Junior Lacrosse League.
The Hurricanes, league runners-up a year ago, are one of five teams returning for another season in the East Coast circuit for players aged 16 to 21.
Also back are the Moncton Mavericks, Sackville Wolves, Halifax Northwest Rebels and Dartmouth Bandits.
The Rebels won the regular-season crown last year but were knocked out of the playoffs by the Bandits. Dartmouth went on to beat the Hurricanes 3-1 in the best-of-five championship final.
