Hurricanes Win Game 4, Capture Their 7th ECJLL Championship

The Halifax Hurricanes claimed their 1st ECJLL Championship since 2015, and their 7th overall, with an exciting 10-8 win over the Sackville Wolves in Game 4.
The Wolves handed the Hurricanes their only loss of the season in Game 3, but the Hurricanes bounced back in Game 4 to close out the series, winning the best-of-5 series 3-1.
It was the Wolves who got on the board first, with goals by Will Normandeau and Alfie West putting them up 2-0 mid-way through the 1st quarter. The Hurricanes responded with a 5 goal run over an 11:30 span with 2 goals each from Glen Holmes and Ben Allison and one by Zach Glazebrook.
The Wolves answered back with 2 goals in 50 seconds by Alfie West and Owen Forsythe before Ben Allison added his third for the Hurricanes and Jordan Whitford added another for the Wolves.
The Hurricanes entered half up 6-5, but extended their lead to 9-5 in the 3rd quarter on goals by Glen Holmes (his 3rd), Isaac Abbott and a 2nd goal from Zach Glazebrook. It was Abbott's first game of the series as he was away at a junior hockey camp, and he arrived just in time for the opening faceoff.
The Wolves narrowed the lead to 9-7 with 6:47 to go on goals by Jack Dulong and Will Normandeau before Tony Lynch added an insurance marker to make it 10-7 with 4 minutes left in the game. The Wolves added a late goal from Ty Wheatly, but the Hurricanes hung on to win.
The Hurricanes and Dartmouth Bandits are now tied with 7 championships a piece and you have to go back to 2007, when the predecessor to the St. Margaret's Bay Rebels won the championship, to find a team other that the Bandits or Hurricanes hoisting the Garnet Knight Cup.
This brings the 2022 season to an end and the ECJLL would like to thank everyone involved in making the ECJLL (M), and especially the ECJLL Female Division season, a great success. Planning is already underway for 2023.
