Wolves Flip the Script, Win Game 3!

2022-07-26

With the Garnet Knight Cup in the building the Sackville Wolves rode a dominant 2nd half to a 13-5 victory against the previously unbeaten Halifax Hurricanes. The Wolves are now back in the series, down two games to one.

On a hot and humid night in Spryfield, with a large crowd in attendance, the Wolves flipped the script on the Hurricanes game 2 performance.  This time it was the Wolves that jumped out to a big 1st quarter lead (5-1), only to have the Hurricanes mount a comeback.  The Hurricanes trailed 6-5 after an early 3rd quarter goal, but the Wolves responded with 7 unanswered goals to pull away and hand Halifax it's first loss of the season.

Noah Cox was outstanding in nets for the Wolves, allowing just 5 goals to keep the Wolves in the championship series.  Jack Dulong stepped up with 4 goals and ECJLL Rookie of the Year Ethan Muir added 3 more. Will Normandeau (2), Alfie West, Ty Wheatley, and brother's Tyler and Cooper Puma also scored.

For the Hurricanes, it was ECJLL Offensive Player of the Year and League Top Scorer Glen Holmes with all 5 goals, including 3 goals in a 1:40 span of the 2nd quarter, but they could not complete the comeback that had propelled them to victories in games 1 & 2.

The series shifts to Sackville for game 4 on Wednesday night, 7:30pm at the Sackville Arena where the Hurricanes will get a second attempt to win the championship while the Wolves hope to stay alive and force game 5.
