Hurricanes Win in Their Final Game of the Regular Season
2021-08-02The Halifax Hurricanes defeated the St. Margaret's Bay Rebels 8-4 last night in Spryfield in the final game of the regular season for both teams. The Hurricanes move into 1st place with the win, but will have to await the results of the final two games to determine their placing and playoff opponent.
Jonah Glazebrook had 5 points (3G 2A) to lead the Hurricanes, and Gage Macphee allowed just 4 goals against to earn his 2nd win of the season. Jack Letterick had two goals, and brothers Will and Glen Holmes each added singles for the Hurricanes.
Brandon Scott replied with 2 goals while Luke Wilson and Stu Smeltzer each added 1 goal for the Rebels.
The Rebels sit in 4th place and will play the top seed in the playoffs, which commence this upcoming weekend. The Hurricanes are currently in 1st place with 12 points, but the Bandits sit just 2 point back with 2 games remaining, and the Wolves, who are also just 2 points back, could grab a share of the lead with a win over the Bandits tonight (Tuesday) in Sackville.
