Wolves Hand the Hurricanes Their First Loss of the Season

Ben McKay had 4 goals, Zac Carrigan had 7 points and goalie Noah Cox was up for the challenge as the Sportwheels Wolves, in their home opener, handed the Halifax Hurricanes their first loss of the season.
The Halifax Hurricanes travelled to the Sackville Arena tonight for the Sportwheels Wolves home opener, sporting a 3-0 record and trying to remain undefeated. The Wolves, however, had other ideas. With the score tied 7-7 after 3 quarters the Wolves scored 3 unanswered goals in the 4th quarter to win 10-7 and hand the Hurricanes their first loss of the season.
Ben McKay paced the Wolves with 4 goals, Zac Carrigan had 7 points (2G 5A), to move to with 2 points of the league lead (G Holmes 15 points), and captain Mitch Broussard had 5 points (2G 3A). Also scoring for the Wolves was Matt Duggan and Alfie West. Noah Cox allowed just 7 goals for his 2nd win of the season.
G Holmes and Aidan Child each had 2 goals for the Hurricanes, with singles to Will Holmes, Jackson Davis and Francis Greyson.
The Wolves head to Shearwater on Friday to play the Dartmouth Bandits, in their first meeting since the Bandits won the Garnet Knight Cup in 2019. After playing 4 games in 8 days the Hurricanes will take a rest until next Monday, when they will host the Bandits.
