ECJLL Announces Return to Play

The East Coast Junior Lacrosse League (ECJLL) is pleased to announce that the 2021 season will commence on July 5^th. The 2021 ECJLL season will incorporate the five Nova Scotia-based teams, with an 8-game schedule for each team from July 5^th to August 6^th.
 
The battle for the Garnet Knight Cup will begin on August 8^th with the top four teams advancing to the league semi-finals. All games will incorporate all required public health protocols and guidelines.
Due to public health restrictions, it is anticipated that game day rosters will be limited to approximately 15 players at the start of the season, with a move to full game day rosters as soon as reopening guidelines allow.
  
It is the hope of the ECJLL that spectators will be allowed at games this summer and a Spectator Policy will be announced closer to the start of the season.

The league is also announcing some rule changes for the upcoming season:

• Game Duration – League games in 2021 will be 4 quarters of 12 minutes each with a 5-minute break between the 1^st and 2^nd, and 3^rd and 4^th quarters, and a 10-minute break between the 2^nd and 3^rd quarters.
• Clearing the Defensive Zone – Teams will have 10 seconds after gaining possession to advance the ball over the center line.
• Over and Back – In all situations, once a team advances the ball over the center line they cannot cause the ball to cross back over into the defensive zone, unless off of a rebound (goalie or post)
• Delayed Penalties – The referee will only blow the whistle on a delayed penalty when the offending team gains full possession of the ball.
