Wolves even the series on the road with a win of the Hurricanes
2019-07-10The Wolves rebound with a big defensive game, taking down the Hurricanes 7-5 on the road. The Wolves win evens the series at one a piece and makes it a best of 3 series.
Game 2 of the 2019 ECJLL semi final playoffs between the Sackville Wolves and Halifax Hurricanes was played at the Hurricanes home rink at the Spryfield Rink. The Hurricanes celebrated 20 years of Hurricanes lacrosse association and many fans came out to watch a great game!
After losing the first game, the Wolves were revved up to make an impact on this series, as the Hurricanes looked to keep their lead. With each team ready to play, the 1st period was dominated by the Wolves, as they put 3 goals on the scoreboard while holding the Hurricanes to only 1 goal, ending the period 3-1.
During the 2nd period, the Wolves kept up the pressure on the Hurricanes defense, and were successful with scoring 4 goals. Despite the Hurricanes’ offensive efforts, they were unable to get a single goal in this 20 minutes of play, falling at the end of the period to the Wolves 7-1.
With the 3rd period upon them, Hurricanes found their wind and found the Wolves’ net 4 times in this last period. It was now the Wolves turn to not find success on scoring on the Hurricanes, but due to their lead in the first 2 periods, were able to run home with the win with a score of 7-5.
Wolves’ scoring leader in this game as Mike Anthony with 3 goals, while scoring contributors were Zac Carrigan, Alfie West, Ben McKay and Chris Duplisea all with 1 goal each.
Scoring for the Hurricanes was lead Jonah Glazebrook with 2 goals and an assist, with Matt Orman, Jackson Davis and Ben Allison all adding a goal each to the scoreboard.
With this win, the Wolves tied up the series with the Hurricanes 1-1.
