Hurricanes take Game 1 of the best of 5 over Wolves

The Hurricanes drop the Wolves 12 - 10 in Sackville Arena taking back home floor against in the series. The Hurricanes go up 1- 0 in the series and look to take a hold of the series on Wednesday at home
Tuesday night was the first game of the ECJLL 2019 playoff season and the first game of the playoff series between 2nd place Sackville Wolves and 3rd place Halifax Hurricanes. Just like the playoff series between these 2 teams last year, the promise of awesome lax action between them was fulfilled.
Right from the start of the game at Sackville Arena, the energy was palpable and Hurricanes turned that into a goal in under 30 seconds from first faceoff. Wolves quickly replied with a goal of their own just over a minute later. By the end of the 1st period, these two teams were in a tie at 4-4.
Over the next 20 minutes of play, neither team let up on either end of the floor. Wolves were able to find the Hurricanes’ net for 3 goals, while the visiting Hurricanes netted 2 goals of their own. At the end of the 2nd period, Wolves were in the lead 7-6.
With the 3rd period on them, Hurricanes found their second wind and were the team to outscore their opponent, as they put 4 goals past the Wolves, with the Wolves scoring just 3 goals in the same period. At the end of 60 minutes of play, these two teams were in a tie game of 10-10!
Fans were experiencing a little déjà vu of the first game of last year’s first game of the playoff series between the Wolves and Hurricanes as we were going into overtime! Over the next 10 minutes, Hurricanes kept up their strong game and scored 2 more goals while blanking the Wolves. Hurricanes win the 1st game of the series 12-10.
Scoring for the Hurricanes was led by Glenn Holmes with 5 goals and an assist, and by brother Will Holmes who had 2 goals.
Wolves scoring leader was Zac Carrigan who had 5 goals and an assist, while Mike Anthony led in assists with 3, and 1 goal.
In a best of 5 series, Hurricanes lead Wolves 1-0.
