Wolves sweeps the Rebels in the season series

The Wolves came on in the 3rd period to take down the Rebels on the road. The Wolves have clinched the 2nd seed and will close out the season against the Bandits .

On Wednesday night, Sackville Wolves were matched up against the St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels for the Rebels final game of their regular season. 

Both these teams came out on the floor revved up for an awesome game and as the 1st period was winding down, Rebels were in the lead 2-0, but the Wolves weren’t giving up, scoring with less than 2 minutes left and ended the period trailing Rebels 2-1.

In the 2nd period, Wolves played a strong offense and ran their side of the scoreboard up with 4 goals, while the Rebels were only able to net an additional 2 goals. At the end of 40 minutes of play, Wolves took the lead with a score of 5-4.

Over the course of the last 20 minutes of play, Wolves continued to dominate in the scoring, adding 5 more goals, as the Rebels were only able to get 2 goals into their opponent’s net. Wolves took the win in the end with a final score of 10-6.

Wolves were led in scoring by Zac Carrigan with 4 goals and 2 assists, as captain Mitch Brossard added 2 goals and had an assist, while Ben McKay also had 2 goals. With his 4th goal of this game, giving him 93 points in the season (in 12 games), Zac Carrigan broke a record of 92 points in a season, set by Paddy Quinn (Northwest Marley Lions) in 2013 (15 games played), and which was tied by Breton Penney (Dartmouth Bandits) in 2017 (14 games played).

Scoring leaders for the Rebels were Luke Wilson with 2 goals and 2 assists and Zach Whitford who also had 2 goals.

Wolves take the win in all 3 games in this 2019 Wolves/Rebels series.
