Bandits drop the Mavs to sweep the season series

2019-06-24

The Dartmouth Bandits keep a lock on first place in the ECJLL and complete the season sweep of the Mavericks with a victory to start Father Day weekend. The bandits were lead by Chris Malette with 5 goals on the night

On Father’s Day, NB Mavericks played Dartmouth Bandits at the Shearwater Arena in the last regular season matchup between these 2 teams.

From the 1st period, Bandits took over the floor and the scoring. Though it took almost 5 minutes before the scoring started, once it did, Bandits buried the ball into the Mavericks’ net 4 times over the next 15 minutes, while Mavericks were only able to put 1 goal on the board.

Over the course of the 2nd period, Bandits put another 5 points on the scoreboard, as the Mavericks added another 2 to theirs, ending the period behind the Bandits 3-9.

In the 3rd period, Mavericks were determined to get passed the Bandits goalie and were successful with 4 goals; unfortunately, the Bandits continued their domination of the game and scored 7 times over the last 20 minutes. In the end, Bandits won with a final score of 16-7.

Mavericks scoring was led by Jaden Hewey with 5 goals. Remi Theriault and Matt Downing added 1 goal each to the scoreboard.

Scoring for the Bandits was led by Chris Malette who had 5 goals, and by Tyson Carvery who had 4 goals. Luke Stienburg, Gaetan Tremblay and Matt Brenzel all added 2 goals each.

Both teams do not see action again until the weekend when the Bandits become the travellers as they head to Truro to face the Mi’kmaq Warriors, while the Mavericks host Halifax Hurricanes in Moncton at the Kay/Lewisville Arena
