Hurricanes ends the Bandits home winning streak

2019-06-17

In classic battle the Hurricanes ended the Bandits home winning steaks by beating them 8-7 on Friday night at Shearwater. It was a back and forth battle and possible preview of some playoffs action.

In Friday Night Lax action this week, Halifax Hurricanes blew across the harbour to face off against Dartmouth Bandits and it was as action packed as anticipated between these two teams.

Bandits opened the scoring in the 1st period, and within 13 minutes had 3 goals, while Hurricanes were only able to score 2 goals during the period. After the first 20 minutes of play, Bandits had a slight lead of 3-2.

Over the next 20 minutes of play, Hurricanes stepped up their game, holding the Bandits to only 1 goal during the period, while scoring 3 of their own, including 1 in the last minute of the 2nd period to take the 1 goal lead from Bandits, with a 5-4 score.

This game was a battle between these rival teams and the 3rd period was amped up as both the Bandits and the Hurricanes tried hard to be the better overall team. As hard as defence on each team tried to keep the other from scoring, each team did score 3 goals. In the end, Hurricanes took the win over Bandits by 1 point, with a final score of 8-7.

Scoring leaders for the Hurricanes were assistant captain David Rossiter, who had 2 goals and 2 assists, as did Jonah Glazebrook, and Ben Allison who also had 2 goals.

Bandits were led in scoring by Dalton Brown and Dakota Morrisey who both had 2 goals apiece.

This was the last regular season matchup between these two rivals and with this win, Hurricanes broke the Bandits’ 35 regular-season game winning streak (Bandits’ last loss in regular play was on May 17, 2017)! Should they face off again in the playoffs, it will be a series not to be missed!
