Mavericks down the Warriors to take the season series

2019-06-06

A strong first period leads the Mavericks over the Warriors 21-8. The win moves the Mavericks 4 points up on the Warriors for the final playoff spot with only 5 games remaining in the season.

In Saturday night lacrosse action, the NB Mavericks travelled to Truro to face off against the Mi’kmaq Warriors.

Mavericks were a determined team right from the 1st period and dominated the first 20 minutes of play as they scored 8 goals and blocking all the Warriors scoring chances. At the end of the 1st, Mavericks were charging ahead 8-0.

In the 2nd, the Warriors battled back, seeing the back of the Mavericks’ net for 5 goals. However, the Mavericks again outscored their hosts adding 6 goals to their score and ending 40 minutes of play 14-5.

With 20 more minutes left to play, the visiting NB team kept up their pace of scoring with 7 more goals. Warriors tried hard to get more points on the board, but were only success with adding 3 more. At the end of the 3rd, the Mavericks took the win with a final score of 21-8.

Mavericks’ scoring leaders were Jake Mosher-McGraw and Pete Stranger who each had 5 goals, while Jaden Hewey and John Farrell each had a pair of goals.

Warriors were led in scoring by Lewis Jarvie and Connor Sabattis who each had hat tricks for this game.

We're only half way through our Jr A season and the games are just getting more exciting as we go on!!
