Wolves drop the Maverick in Freddy

ECJLL history as the first game played in Fredericton, but the Wolves spoiled the party coming out of the gate fast and coasting to a 16 -11 win over the Mavericks

This past weekend, the ECJLL had its first games ever held in Fredericton, as the NB Mavericks held 2 of their home games at the Grant Harvey Arena. First up on Saturday afternoon, the Sackville Wolves travelled to the NB capital city to face the Mavericks in an exciting Jr A lax game.

From start to end, the Wolves ran the floor and dominated in scoring as they had 6 goals in the 1st period, while holding the Mavericks to just 1 goal in this period. 

In the 2nd period, Mavericks came back strong on the scoring, seeing the Wolves’ net for 7 goals. Wolves also saw their opponent’s net 7 time as well, but ended 40 minutes of play still leading the Mavericks 13-8.

With the last period upon them, the Mavericks defence came on strong and held the Wolves to only 3 goals over the last 20 minutes, and Mavericks offense were able to score 3 themselves for a tie period. But it wasn’t enough to steal the lead from the Wolves who run home with the win with a final score of 16-11.

Scoring leaders for the Wolves were Zac Carrigan, who had 8 goals and 2 assists, Ben McKay who has 2 goals and 4 assists and Alex Bechard with 2 goals.

Mavericks scoring was led by Jake Mosher-McGraw with 5 goals and 3 assists, and Jaden Hewey with 2 goals and 2 assists. Fredericton native Bryson Purski had a goal, while other Fredericton native Adam Gallop assisted on 2 goals
