Wolves down the Warriors

Lead by Zac Carrigan career high night the Wolves took down the Warriors on the road. Both teams were tied for 3rd going into the match up but the Wolves dominating win, vaulted themselves ahead of the Warriors.
Friday Night Lax had the Mi’kmaq Warriors hosting the Sackville Wolves in Truro for an exciting matchup between these two teams. Whenever the Wolves are in the Barn, you can be assured nonstop lax action on the floor. And this game was no exception.
Warriors opened up the scoring quick and fast as they put the first goal in the Wolves’ net at only 10 seconds off the opening faceoff and that only got the game lit up. From there, the Wolves and the Warriors shared in scoring opportunities and successes, with the Wolves coming a little ahead of thw Warriors at the end of the 1st period at 8-5.
As the Wolves revved up their offense in the 2nd period, they continued to be successful in seeing the score climb in their favor by another 5 points, while Warriors offense couldn’t quite break through the Wolves’ defense as often. At the end of 40 minutes of play, Wolves’ commanded the scoreboard 13-7 over the Warriors.
The 3rd period did not have the Wolves letting up on either their offense or defense at they continued to dominate both sides of this game, scoring another 5 goals, and holding the Warriors to scoring just 1 goal. Wolves took the win over the Warriors with a 18-8 final.
Scoring for the Wolves in this game was led by Zac Carrigan, who had a game high 10 points of 7 goals and 3 assists, Ben McKay with 3 goals and an assist and Mike Anthony with 2 goals and an assist.
Warriors scoring leaders were Jordan Whitford with 2 goals and 2 assists, and captain Connor Dennis with 2 goals.
Up next for these 2 teams has the Mi’kmaq Warriors travelling to Quispamsis, NB on Sun, May 26 for 2pm against NB Mavericks, while the Wolves get a small rest until Sat, June 1, when they will face the NB Mavericks in Fredericton, NB.
