Hurricanes drop the Rebels

Mid week lacrosse action had the Halifax Hurricanes facing off against the St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels at the BMO Centre where the Hurricanes took the lead in the game early on and kept it til the end, playing a whirlwind game on the Rebels’ home floor.

The Hurricanes offense were on fire on Wednesday night as they found the Rebels net 10 times in the 1st period, while the Rebels were able to score 3 points in the same period, ending the first 20 mins at a score of 10-3.

Though the Hurricanes were in the lead, they didn’t let up during the 2nd period, scoring 12 more points. Rebels fought hard and were able to put 4 more points on the board, bringing the score at the end of the 2nd to 22 – 7.

The 3rd period saw the defence of both these teams step up strong as the Hurricanes’ scoring streak was calmed to only 3 goals, but unfortunately the Rebels were blanked from getting another point on the scoreboard. The Hurricanes took home the win with a score of 25-7.

Scoring for the Hurricanes was led by Will Holmes who had 6 goals and 3 assists, by David Rossiter who had 4 goals and 2 assists and by Jacob Abbott who had 3 goals.

Rebels were led in scoring by Zach Whitford who had 4 goals, and the remaining goals were scored by Max Pellerine, Brandon Scott and Liam Swallow.

Up next on the ECJLL Schedule has the Sackville Wolves heading to Truro to take on the Mi’kmaq Warriors at the Colchester Legion Stadium for an 8pm game start.
