Warriors take the Mother Day Battle over the Mavericks

The Warriors were vibing with energy right from first faceoff and quickly scored in just the first 39 seconds, and kept the scoring up over the next 10 minutes, putting 4 goals on the scoreboard before allowing the Mavericks to see the back of the net. At the end of the 1st period, Warriors led the Mavericks 5-3.

In the 2nd period, Mavericks battled hard against the Warriors as they added 4 more goals to their total while the Warriors got 2 balls into the Mavericks’ net, and the period ended in a 7-7 tie.

As both teams came out for the 3rd period, the Barn was revved up and so were the players. Both teams played hard and fast. With less than 5 mins left in the period, the score was once again tied up, until the Warriors scored to take the lead and the pressure was on to hold the lead. The last 10 seconds of the game was a nail biter as the Mavericks had possession of the ball. As the Mavericks took their last shot on the Warriors net, goalie Connary McGee blocked the closeup shot just as the buzzer blew and securing the Warriors’ 1st win of the season as the Warriors win 11-10!

Scoring leaders for the NB Mavericks were Matt Downing who had 3 goals, and Jaden Hewey who had 2 goals.
Warriors’ were lead in scoring by Bryson Knockwood who had 6 goals and 2 assists, captain Connor Dennis who had 3 goals and Ethan Malcom with 2 goals.

A very exciting game is on the ECJLL schedule this week as we travel outside our home rinks to the picturesque Annapolis Valley where the St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels will play the Sackville Wolves at the Credit Union Arena in Kingston on Tues, May 14, game starts at 7:30pm. This will be the first ECJLL game played in the valley and we can’t wait to see all our valley fans and lax players there!
