Wolves spoil the Warriors party with a perfect 3rd period

The Wolves road a perfect 3rd period to a victory over the Warriors on a night that celebrate Mi'kmaq Culture as part of the Warriors Opening Ceremonies

Sackville Wolves come running out of the Season Opening gates with a win over Mi’kmaq Warriors
In the ECJLL’s 2nd game of season opening night, the Mi’kmaq Warriors hosting Sackville Wolves at the Colchester Stadium Legion in Truro, where as tradition on home opening night in the Barn, Opening Ceremonies included dancers and drummers from local indigenous communities who lead the players into the rink for the Grand entry, local dignitaries and the ceremonial faceoff was done by the CEO of the Halifax 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), Kevin Sandy.

Both teams hit the floor with enthusiasm, ready the play a new season of great Jr. A lacrosse action. Warriors opened the scoring first 5 minutes into the game, but the Wolves quickly answered with a goal of their own. At the end of the first period, Wolves lead the scoring 4-2.
In the second period, Warriors came out fired up, putting 4 more goals on the scoreboard, and rookie goalie Connary McGee held the Wolves to only 3 balls into the net. These efforts closed the scoring gap for the Warriors, but Wolves still held the lead at 7-6.

During 3rd period, the Wolves were determined and the pack played hard and were able to score 6 more goals over the 20 minute period. Unfortunately, the Warriors could not find the net in this period and went scoreless during the last period. Wolves win this season opener, and their first game, 13-6.

Scoring leaders for the Wolves were captain, Mitch Broussard with 4 goals and an assist, Mike Anthony with 3 goals and 2 assists, and Sam Humphries with 2 goals.

Warriors scoring leader was assistant captain Ethan Malcom with 2 goals, as well assistant captain Connor Dennis scored a goal and rookie Calem McAdrew had 1 goal.

The next ECJLL game is tonight with Halifax Hurricanes having their home opener against NB Mavericks at 6pm at the Spryfield Lions Rink.
