St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels and Dartmouth Bandits faceoff in ECJLL Season Opener 1
Friday night, ECJLL had 2 season opening games on the schedule. In this game at Shearwater Arena in Dartmouth, the Dartmouth Bandits home opener hosted the St. Margaret’s Bay Rebels (formerly the Northwest Marley Lions). Both these teams were exploding with energy to get their seasons’ underway.
Bandits dominated this game, quickly opened the scoring, successfully seeing the net just 3.5 minutes into the game. At the end of the first period, Bandits were leading the Rebels 7-1.
Through the 2nd period, Bandits remained strong as the Rebels tried to find momentum with 2 goals, but unfortunately the Rebels fell behind as the 2nd ended of a score of 15-3.
In the 3rd period, Bandits goalie Ayden Pierro held the Rebels off of any scoring, with the Bandits putting another 6 goals on the scoreboard and winning the game 21-3.
Bandits player Cody Carta-Bromersine lead his team in scoring with 6 goals and 3 assists, while assistant captain Brett Draper added 5 goals and had 3 assists. Dakota Morrisey put 3 goals on the board and assisted on 2, while rookie Luke Stienburg had his 1st Jr. A goal in this homeopening game.
Rebels assistant captain Zach Whitford gave his team 2 goals and assisted on the other goal, scored by Zach Sampson, who had assisted on 1 goal.
The ECJLL game schedule has 2 more games this weekend. First up is tonight, Saturday, at 6pm with Halifax Hurricanes hosting the NB Mavericks at 6pm at Spryfield Lions Rink. On Sunday, the Mavericks travel over the harbour to faceoff against the Dartmouth Bandits at 2pm at the Shearwater Rink.
