Hurricanes take game two, one win away from the championship
2018-07-22The Hurricanes take game 2 10-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the championship series. The bandits will be looking to rebound at home on Sunday night at the 4pad.
Game 2 of the ECJLL Championship Series was played Fri night at the BMO Bedford Centre as the Halifax Hurricanes hosted the Dartmouth Bandits on a beautiful summer night.
Hurricanes had taken the early lead of the series by winning game 1, and they were on a mission to keep their lead as the Bandits were seeking to tie it up.
Alex Campbell of the Hurricanes opened the scoring in the 1st period at 1:14 into this game that was sure to be a hard-hitting, fast-paced game. By the end of the first 20 mins, Hurricanes were ahead 4-2.
Throughout the 2nd period of play, Hurricanes continued to dominate the game, pushing the Bandits to play a different style game. The offense of this Halifax team were able to score 6 goals in this period, while the defense kept the Bandits at bay except for 1 goal.
Coming into the 3rd period with the Hurricanes in the lead 10-3, the Bandits defense stepped up and goaltending for this Dartmouth team held a shutout for this period, while the offense were able to score a goal. Alas, it was not enough for the Bandits to win and tie up the series, as the Hurricanes won 10-4.
Bandits scoring machine Breton Penney, who also is this year\'s ECJLL MVP Offensive Player, scored 3 goals, one of then being the only goal in te 3rd period. Bandits\' rookie Dakota Morrissey scored the Dartmouth team goal.
Hurricanes\' Matt Orman had a hat trick, as Luke Smeltzer added 2 goals on the scoreboard and assisted on 3.
Game 3 goes tonight at the Dartmouth 4Pad at 7:30pm. Come on out to see some awesome Jr A lacrosse as this game will be full of it! Will we see a new Garnet Knight champion tonight or will it be onto Game 4?
