2018-07-15

Bandits take three straight to sweep the Mavericks in the best of 5 series. Sunday they traveled to Moncton and took down the Mavericks 15-8 to move on to the finals

Dartmouth Bandits move onto the ECJLL Championship playoff series after sweeping NB Mavericks in 3 games of their semi finals.

As Mavericks hosted the Bandits for game 3 in Moncton on Sun afternoon, both teams were revved up. Bandits were looking to win to sweep while Mavericks were trying to stay alive.

Scoring in the 1st period didn't open until almost 5 mins into the period and was kept low and close between the 2 teams as it ended with a last second goal by the Mavericks. Bandits led 3-2.

Heading into the 2nd period, Bandits turned up the heat as they scored 8 goals as the Mavericks added 3 to their score. After 40 mins of play, the scoreboard read 11-5 on favor of the Bandits.

Mavericks defense stepped up in the third period, keeping the Bandits scoring only to 4 while the offense put 3 goals in the Dartmouth team's net. Though it was a great effort by the Mavericks, the Bandits took the win 15-8, having won 3 straight games in best 3 of 5 playoff series. Bandits head into the championship playoffs undefeated in 17 games.

Bandits' scoring leaders were Jordan McKenna (5 goals, 2 assists), Dalton Brown (3 goals, 1 assist) and Gaetan Tremblay (2 goals, 1 assist).

Mavericks captain Jon Magarvey had a gat trick, as Matt Downey had 2 goals and 1 assist and Jake Mosher-McGraw had 1 goal and 4 assists.

Dartmouth Bandits now await to find out who the winner of the Halifax Hurricanes vs. Sackville Wolves series will be. Game 5 of that series goes tonight at 7:30pm at BMO Centre Bedford.
