Bandits survive a nail bitter against the Wolves to stay unbeaten

On Friday night, the Bandits balanced attack on offense kept the unbeaten streak alive in a nail bitter against the Wolves 12-11.

Last night saw 2 ECJLL games being played, the first had the Sackville Wolves facing the Dartmouth Bandits in Shearwater. Wolves were on the hunt to break the Bandits winning streak as the Bandits steeled themselves on being undefeated.

Bandits opened the scoring within the first minute of the first faceoff and they kept on the pressure and the scoring throughout the 1st period, ending the 20 mins up 7-4.

As the 2nd period played out, Wolves turned it up, scoring another 4 goals, and keeping the Bandits to scoring just 5 in this period. As the third opened up in a score of 12-8, both teams had the determination to win. Wolves stepped up and were scoring, as their defence and goalie didn't allow the Bandits to net another goal in the last 20 mins of the game. But in the end, Wolves weren't able to score enough, as the Bandits won this nailbiting game, and staying undefeated in 13 games.

Wolves' Matt Wilson scored 4 goals and had 2 assists as Zac Carrigan was big on the assisting on 5 goals, while netting 2 himself.

Bandits scoring was shared across the team, with Breton Penny leading with a hat trick and 2 goals and Keaton Brown having 2 goals and 2 assists.

Bandits are now on a small break until next Friday night, June 29 when the host Mi'kmaq Warriors in Shearwater at 7:30pm.
