Mavericks down the Warriors to inch closer to the playoffs
2018-06-16In the first of a home and home battle between the Warriors and Maverick in Moncton, The home team lead by Jake Mosher put themselves on a brink of a playoff spot.
Sat afternoon's ECJLL game had the Mi'kmaq Warriors travelling up to Moncton to face off against the NB Mavericks in the first of 2 back-to-back games of the weekend.
The Warriors were fired up as they are on a mission to get into the playoffs and rookie Jordan Whitford opened the scoring at 56 seconds into the game. Mavericks who are also on the same mission replied with a goal 17 seconds later and kept up the scoring. The 1st period ended in a score of 5-3 for the Mavericks.
This NB Jr A team kept up the pressure and scoring in the 2nd period, netting another 5 goals and only allowing in 2 from the Warriors, ending the period 10-5.
Warriors came back hard in the 3rd period, themselves scoring 3 and keeping the Mavericks down scoring only 3 as well. Warriors were unable to find the win this game, as the Mavericks won their last home game 13-8.
Warriors' Lewis Jarvie led his team in scoring as he had a hat trick, while teammate Connor Dennis netted 2 goals.
Mavericks scoring powerhouse Jake Mosher-McGraw added to his points total as he led his team in scoring with 6 goals and 2 assists.
Next game has these two teams matched up again as the Mavericks come to Truro to play the Warriors at the Colchester Stadium at 2pm today in a Father's Day game. Come cheer them on!!
