Bandits down the Hurricanes to keep the unbeaten season going
2018-06-15The Bandits tally six goals in the first and second to drop the hurricanes for the third time this season. The bandits continue the winning streak as they look to lock up the top seed.
Fri night's ECJLL game had the Dartmouth Bandits facing the Halifax Hurricanes for the second time in the week as the Hurricanes travelled to Shearwater Rink for the fourth and last time these two teams would play each other in the regular season. Hurricanes were on the storm path to win this game in this series match up while the Bandits were storm prepared to keep their winning streak going.
The Hurricane struck first scoring in under a minute from the first faceoff, but the Bandits blew back and closed the 1st period leading 6-2. Throughout the 2nd, Bandits defence kept the Hurricane at bay only allowing 2 goals in, as their offense played a storm of their own scoring another 6. As the Hurricanes came into the 3rd, trailing 4-12, they stepped up the storm a little, scoring 3 and only allowing 4 goals in. When the winds settled, the Bandits took the win 16-7, the winning streak unbroken in the storm.
Hurricanes' Jonah Glazebrook had a hat trick while Luke Smeltzer scored 2 goals and added 2 assists.
Bandits were lead in scoring by Keaton Brown with 4 points while powerhouse scorer Breton Penney has 2 goals and 3 assists for the night.
Next game on the schedule was Sat, Jun 16 as the Mi'kmaq Warriors travel to Moncton to face the NB Mavericks in a 2 game weekend game set between these two teams.
