Bandits defense holds strong in the third to pull out a thriller against the Hurricanes

2018-06-11

In a back and forth back between the leagues top two teams the Bandits defense was the story as they shut down the Hurricanes in the 3rd period to take a 11-9 victory in what could be a playoff preview.

Mon night's ECJLL game between Dartmouth Bandits and Halifax Hurricanes was the third matchup between these two teams and the Hurricanes were hungry for a win against the undefeated Bandits and Bandits were not willing to have the winning streak stopped.

The 1st period had these two teams evenly matched in scoring, but the Hurricanes came out in the lead at the end of it with 4-3. This fueled the Bandits up for the 2nd, where they scored 7 in this period alone. Hurricanes tried hard to match it, but came up a little short, with a period ending at 10-9 for the Bandits. The 3rd saw both teams defences' and goalies' play hard and protect their ends, though Bandits were able to get 1 goal in on the Hurricanes, overall winning this game 11-9.

Jordan McKenna lead scoring for the Bandits with 3 goals and 3 assists as Dakota Morrisey added 2 goals and an assist. Breton Penney was on the assists for the night with 4 of them and 1 goal.

Hurricanes' Matt Orman and Glen Holmes both lead in scoring for their team with 2 goals and 2 assists each.

Next ECJLL game is tonight as Mi'kmaq Warriors are on the road to Sackville Wolves at the Sackville Rink, game is at 7:30pm.
