After leading the Halifax Southwest Hurricanes to four straight ECJLL Championships, Head Coach Jon Goguen has stepped down as coach effective immediately, but will continue as Team Manager for the time being. Jon has orchestrated arguably the biggest dynasty in ECJLL history with decisive championships since 2011.

Coach Goguen contributes to lacrosse in many ways, acting as Commissioner of the Nova Scotia Senior Lacrosse League, and serving on the Dalhousie University Field Lacrosse coaching staff. He is also a former ECJLL player and played for the St. Mary’s University Huskies team that won a MUFLL Championship in 2010.
“I have been involved with the team since I volunteered myself to help Coach Tom Lee and Coach Glenn Dunbar six years go” said Goguen. “The team has had great success in those years, but there is still a lot of mental, physical, and emotional stress involved in volunteering in that capacity. If it wasn’t for the outstanding coaching group I wouldn’t have been able to stay involved for as long as I did.”

“It has been a rewarding experience and I am proud to have had the chance to give back to the sport that I love.”

Goguen passes the reigns to former assistant Colin Algee. Algee has multiple years experience coaching with the Hurricanes Junior squad, and has been an advocate for the association at the grassroots level for a number of years.
No word yet if assistants Jamie Dunbar and Connor Dubreil will continue on with the club. Algee is inheriting a talented squad, with some of the top young talent in the ECJLL, including Rookie of the Year Alex Pace who had 55 points in 14 games. The Hurricanes also several incoming rookies primed to contribute early in year one for the team, as well as picks in this weekend's ECJLL Midget Entry Draft

Jon and mother Donna Goguen have contributed significantly to the growth of the game of lacrosse, with combined experience spanning more than two decades. Donna was recently elected President of Lacrosse Nova Scotia.
