Ryan Daley joins former teammates while Jed MacIntyre becomes a Lion
The 2015 NHL trade deadline has past and every year a blockbuster deal breaks the ice to start a flurry of trades. The 2015 ECJLL off season was no different, with drafts picks and star players moving to begin filling team needs for the up coming season.
After the dust had settled from the league expansion of the Mi'kmaq Warriors the Dartmouth Bandits and Halifax Northwest Marley Lions made a blockbuster deal that opened the flood gates. In the morning of February 4th the Bandits acquired star forward Ryan Daley from the Lion for the Bandits 2016, 2017, 2018 1st round Midget entry draft picks. The deal included the condition that Ryan play in the 2018 ECJLL season for the Bandits 2018 1st round pick.
Ryan is entering his 3rd season in the ECJLL with 47 goals and 46 assists over his first two seasons with the Lions. Ryan will be reunited with former Eastern Shore Breaker teammates Lawerance Lyver, Greg Nussey and Breton Penney with this trade. Bandits coach Mitch Hannigan had this to say about the deal for Daley "At this stage of the game winning is paramount. You have to be willing to part ways with good player and good picks to get players you think can help you win, weather it is winning now or in the future."
The two teams were not finished there, in the afternoon the Lions acquired 2nd year player Jed MacIntryre from the Bandits for the Lions 2015 2nd round pick (9th overall). In Jed freshmen year he record 4 goals and 8 assists.
These two deals turned out to be the kick off to a very busy February. Finding teams trying to boost their roster or draft position in order to be the top team in 2015.
